The Navigator is a tribute to clockmaker John Harrison (1693 – 1776) who made the world’s first marine chronometer. His unique timepieces made it possible for the first time for British naval
officers to accurately calculate their longitude position. This technical breakthrough gave an extraordinary advantage to the navies of Great Britain in their quest for global exploration, trade and Empire. Comitti of London has worked with the fine artist David Galbraith to create a unique limited edition featuring four truly historic British ships. The panels show Admiral Horatio Nelson flagship HMS Victory
at the Battle of Trafalgar on the 21st October 1805, Lieutenant James Cook ship HMS Endeavour on a voyage of discovery to Australia and New Zealand between 1769 and 1771, HMS Beagle commanded by Captain Fitzroy undertaking hydrographic surveys and accompanied by Charles Darwin the famous naturalist between 1826 to 1843 and the Cutty Sark the record breaking tea clipper lauched in 1869.
A limited edition of 100 pieces worldwide. Each piece is numbered and signed by the artist.
